Boy, was I completely wrong.

This book would have been more life changing if the pages were blank and a two year old spread feces over it. The book was, for lack of better words...shit. Dull, boring and lacking any kind of descriptions I finished with a bad taste in my mouth and feeling actually angry at the author for wasting my time. The author carries on and on about "Personal Legend" (there is no beating around the bush with this crap either, it is capitalized and plainly written out. Ever hear of symbolism? Make a reader ponder once in a while would you?!)He keeps on and on about how you are going to be inspired...hate to break it to you. I wasn't.

This book is an overrated, religious-isk babble that made me thankful that I live in a country with fire-arms. I wish there was less then one star.

View all my reviews >>

Years end

The year is coming to an end, and so here are my favorite songs and movies of 2009!!

10. The Gossip – Heavy Cross

<lj-embed id="95" />

Beth Ditto, a fucking idol, a fucking amazing woman with power vocals that give me chills. Seeing the band live for the first time this year really sparked a more active interest in the band, and this song is just a taste of the amazing and original sounds coming from the bands new album.

9. Ray LaMontangne- lessons learned

<lj-embed id="96" />

I am not even sure if this was a song released this year or not, but I discovered it this year so it is here. This song literally made me teary-eyed and gave me shivers the first time I heard it. Deal with a lot of deep-rooted emotional relationship problems this year this song really hit home for me. AND THAT VOICE, jesus Christ, that voice it bone shattering.

8. M.E.N. – Credit Card  Babie$

<lj-embed id="97" />

I saw them open for The Gossip and loved them. The music is fun and spunky, interesting and funny! All the while being meaningful.

7. Spinnerette- All Babes are Wolves

<lj-embed id="98" />

Brody-motherfuckin-Dale. Enough said.

6. Regina Spektor- Laughing with

<lj-embed id="99" />

The truth and cheekiness to this song makes me adore it and Regina Spektor.

5. mewithoutyou- The fox, the crow the cookie

<lj-embed id="100" />

mewithoutyou have really grown into on of my favorite bands which is surprising considering they are signed to a Christian label. Despite that, you can not deny the talent and quirkiness, “oh, you rotten wooden mixing spoon.”

4. Paramore- Brick by Boring Brick
<lj-embed id="101" />
By far my favorite song of their new album, and the whole album is awesome. When will Haley Williams ever burn out?

3. Brand New- Bought a Bride

<lj-embed id="102" />

The new album DAISY really has not grown on me like the other two had. Despite that, this song is a jewel. Like THE DEVIL AND GOD, I really think this album takes a while to sink in. You can’t just listen to it and get it; you really have to take the time to FEEL it. Jesse Lacey always delivers with deep and meaningful lyrics that really inspire the writer in me.

2. Radiohead- Jigsaw falling into place

<lj-embed id="103" />

My love of Radiohead really flared up with the release of IN RAINBOWS. This band is about being attractive, or subscribing to any scene or trying to impress anyone. They go into the studio to create and that is it. With that mindset they really come out with some creative and new sounds that I really haven’t heard anyone do, or dare to do. They made it cool to record dropping pieces of glass and making it in to beat, and shit like that. His voice is haunting and I often find myself listening to their music, zoning out into my own little word.

1. Aiden- The Asylum

<lj-embed id="104" />

Just about every song of the new album Knives could be on here for me, and that is a given. I am the first one to admit that a lot of Aiden’s music lacks…ermmm…emotional depth, but that fact doesn’t deter my undying love for the band. This song pleasantly surprised me, and it sits right up there with other favorites by them.

Movies:

10: Jennifer’s Body:

<lj-embed id="105" />

9. Precious-

<lj-embed id="106" />

8. Brothers-

<lj-embed id="107" />

7. Whip It-

<lj-embed id="108" />

6. Up-

<lj-embed id="109" />

5. Caroline-

<lj-embed id="110" />

4. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans -

<lj-embed id="111" />

3.     <lj:music>Aiden - Aiden - I Set My Friends On Fire | Powered by Last.fm</lj:music>

As I said before…Aiden never disappoints. Ever.
Amazing fucking show, plus a longer set then normal…still buzzing.
Pretty sure Wil shit it pants too. LMAO.

Got to the venue about an hour before the doors open, and I expected there to be a hefty line, thankfully there really wasn’t. Met some cool and chill people, which is a refreshing difference from the shit people that were at the Portland shows. Made the time past quicker. Surprisingly still, was the promptness of the bands. They didn’t take their usual 30 minutes to set up between the FOUR opening bands! I rolled with my “Hello My Name is God” costume, and got a few snickers and compliments on it. Mostly people just laughed. The costume contest wasn’t ran by the band at all and really boiled down to who looked the most physically attractive in their outfit. Whatever.

I was pretty disappointed that I wasn’t able to buy “Flowers & Filth” (wil’s book) at the show, and opted for a new shirt design as a sorry replacement.

I have so much shit to do today that I am not really going to go in to detail everything that happened at the show, but instead I have a grip of photos and two videos.

Might I just say I went ballistic when they played World By Storm, and I officially owe Wil a carton of Marlboro Light 100s.

<lj-embed id="51" />
I set my Friends on Fire...

<lj-embed id="52" />
World by "mother-fucking" Storm.
